Artist Profile – Michaela Rinaldi
Hamilton Gallery’s fairly recent move as an Art gallery in Cape Town, to The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, has been an exciting one. Having been an Online Art Gallery for a short while, whilst looking for the perfect venue to have physical Art for Sale, the new location has ample space for new artists such as Michaela Rinaldi to show large scale artworks. All prices available on request.
Bold Expressions
Rinaldi’s paintings are bold expressions – conveying shifting moods in strong, glowing colours.
Beyond the 2D compositions of line, form and colour, is an underlying sense of the complexities of the human condition- relationships amongst individuals, as well as between humans and their environment / immediate surroundings.
Fluid
Her figures are not directly representational – the forms can be disproportionate, sometime unfinished, and this allows for ‘movement’ and flow.
Abstraction
Her abstract figures are in harmony with the spaces in which they are ‘placed’.
Michaela’s own connection with and love of nature, and natural elements and her philosophical enquiries around peoples’ purpose, have led to her works having an added layer of mystery.
Mesmerising
The works are special in that they can be viewed in a literal sense as a collection of aesthetically pleasing colours, lines and complementary shapes. The viewer can, however , delve deeper, seeing them as mystical expressions of the essence of the human experience. These works arose from the sub-conscious , and so invariably may linger in one’s own psyche a while after having viewed a piece, meaning one will never tire of looking at one of her creations.
Tools
Michaela uses acrylic , charcoal, ink and gold leaf as her media. Her works range from smaller, salon-style sized works to much larger ‘conversation pieces’ which makes her work especially collectible for both residential and other spaces.
