Michaela Rinaldi
Michaela was born in 1968. Art was her favourite subject throughout her school years. After completing her studies , the artist started a family and worked in a profession that didn’t allow for full time art practice. At the age of 40, Rinaldi made a decision to change career paths, and returned to art and began her painting journey. Pen and ink had initially been her medium of choice, which gave her a good grounding and remains evident in her line work and bold use of her brush in her paintings. She experimented with clay work and is interested in the 3 dimensional aspect of art-making, which she may add to her work in future.
Michaela is currently moving to Simonstown, where she will paint from her home studio. Life with her family: the simple pleasures of home are what inspires her . Michaela believes in practicing a mindful existence – being slow, intentional and spending time in nature and surrounded by loved ones.
Her interests include cooking and baking, walking on the beach and interior design ( which she studied for two years after school). These pastimes- involve gratifying the senses, something her bold use of colour and line do too for the art viewer. Interior design, providing an understanding of spacial concepts, proportion , balance and flow, all contribute to her creation of her paintings- harmoniously compiled elements that are visually satisfying.
