DANIEL BAETA
Using a pallet knife to create strong and gestural strokes,Daniel’sartworkscombinehisinterestsinart, architecture and design. These curiosities, influence his paintings of landscapes, figures and faces. He is intrigued by simplifying the things we see. Inshowing different parts that make it whole and creating layers of paint, which become somewhat threedimensional. Each line and stroke make up that narrative and is further illustrated through expression. The juxtaposition of Daniel’s experience in both art and functional design, largely inspires the aesthetic expression which he strives tocreate.
Born and raised in Johannesburg, of Portuguese nationality, Daniel Inacio Baeta graduated with a BA in Fine Arts with Honours, at the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg. While studyingFine Art he was drawn to creating abstract art installations with a physical experience for the viewer. After studying he went to work for an Art Gallery in Miami. Through the process of selling fine art oil paintings, his interest was drawn to exploring oil paintings ofhis own. He is a Post-Modern and Abstract artist, where his interests lie in the Arts, Architecture, and Design. While painting during his free time, Daniel is also currently continuing studies in Landscape Architecture atUCT.
